`Digital Emotion.....Humanizing Computers' with Professor Paul Mc Kevitt, Ulster University (Magee) Hosted by Cafe Scientifique Derry~ Londonderry Verbal Arts Centre Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7 PM - 9 PM Invited by Barry Henderson Prof. Paul Mc Kevitt will present on the modelling of emotion within advanced multimedia human-computer interfaces. Prof. Mc Kevitt's presentation will consider the representation, recognition and reasoning about emotions, moods and sentiment within computer programs with demonstration of applications such as visualisation of emotions in online soccer reports (NewsViz) and online learning environments (PlayPhysics). Prof. Paul Mc Kevitt is currently Professor of Digital MultiMedia at the School of Creative Arts & Technologies and Computer Science Research Institute at The University of Ulster, Magee. He is co-founder of HidInImage Ltd., a Magee Campus spin-out company and Director of the International Loebner Prize 2013 Contest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to be held during CultureTECH in September. He has taught and researched internationally in the USA (New Mexico), England (Sheffield) and Denmark (Aalborg).
